Dear Church, What a wonderful time we have had over the past few weeks. It was a genuine privilege to hear so much more of the story of two others on March 29th. Then over Easter on Maundy Thursday we read through the passion story entering into the drama and emotions of Jesus; the disciples and the crowd. Friday with other Christians from across the city we went through the Stations of the Cross before celebrating the resurrection on Sunday. These peak spiritual experiences come and go and can easily be missed if you don’t take up the opportunity.
Allowing the seasons of the Christian Calendar to shape our prayer and worship helps us to reflect and celebrate, resist and reorientate against the ways of this world of greed, power, pleasure and selfishness. This period of the year we enter is Easter. If Lent is about fasting and reflection then Easter is about celebration and feasting leading up to Pentecost Sunday.
This year Pentecost Sunday is 24th May and there will be a combined church service 6pm at Hervey Bay Baptists Church. Come join other Christians and celebrate together.
