Dear Church,
This Sunday we will have a question and answer session after the service. On October 25th we will have a member’s meeting. At that meeting two positions will be put to the members: 1. We elect qualified Elders who can lead the organisation forward 2. We decide to bring the official entity – Hervey Bay Church of Christ to completion.
Regarding the *first option*, continuing as organisation and organism, *Elder’s responsibilities* include: A. *Compliance* – every legal organisation has legal responsibilities around finances, safety and building and various fiduciary requirements. B. *Generative* – Are the people cared for, pastoral care, training, connection and resources? Are the vehicles/programs we are using running well and achieving the aims? How and how well is discipleship being done? How well is the church achieving its mission? C. *Strategic *- Are we discerning the will of God for the overall direction of the church? In what bigger direction is the church taking to achieve the great commision, disciples believers and lead people into maturity?
To take this option at least 3 people need to nominate or be nominated to the Elders for consideration.
Option 2 is to continue as an organism only and hand responsibilities for the property over to Churches of Christ in Queensland. It is a simpler option but we lose control over the property and close accounts and bring the entity to completion. Please note that this second option does not mean that the Entity cannot restart at sometime in the future. The property and money in the bank is to be held in trust for ministry in Hervey Bay.
Attached is the roster for term 4. We are yet to decide what will happen in the first few weeks of January. There are some printed and on the sign in desk.
